It’s only the beginning of September and already we’re feeling the pressure. The holidays have ended and it’s time to get serious again. But just because you’ve headed back to college (or work) doesn’t mean you need to let your guard down, when it comes to fashion that is.
Here are five outfit ideas guaranteed to get you excited for school again and to make sure that you are putting your best face forward.
1. Pretty simple
A daytime dress is perfect for school; it’s not overdone but girly enough. You can dress it down by pairing it with trainers or you can make it slightly more fancy by adding some simple jewellery and shoes with a slight heel. Remember to keep the accessories to a minimum, you are there first and foremost to study.
Style notes: Add a watch with your day dress. It’s simple, you’ll need it and it’ll bring your whole look together.
Light, airy and practical. If you purchase a jumpsuit like the one shown in the images above, you’ll have ease of movement and feel on-trend at the same time. And for hot days, you’ll be sure to stay cool and sweat-free. If the weather gets a little chilly, grab a jacket on the way out.
Fashion tip: Whenever possible, wear flats. School is no place for heels. Especially if you’ll be running back and forth. Besides, they make your feet and legs ache. Most days, I prefer trainers. If you buy trendy ones, there’s no reason why you can’t be comfortable and look good, both at the same time.
Who says casual has to be boring? I love denim dungarees – they’re perfect for the warm weather and quick to throw on. They’re not just great for school but for running errands too. Alternatively, you can pair a t-shirt with ripped jeans. Casual, yet stylish.
Style notes: Wear ’em with one side hanging down, a la Bonnie Bonnett of The Vampire Diaries.
What girl doesn’t love the khaki, army look? These are so in right now and for good reason. Grab yourself a pair of khaki trousers, jacket and if possible, some khaki trainers too. Believe me when I say that the moment you step out that door, all eyes will be on you.
Fashion tip: Try to get hold of a matching set. You can either wear a vest (like I have done in the above images) or a t-shirt inside. Good colours to team with khaki are – well – khaki, black, brown or white.
5. Tartan schoolgirl
If you want to show you mean business but are still ready to have fun, this outfit should do the trick. Plus, it’s perfect for when the weather starts to get a little colder. Just pair a plaid skirt with a high neck jumper and you’re good to go.
Style notes: light purple and grey look smashing together.
