Not sure what to wear this holiday season? Fear not! I’m bringing you two holiday looks perfect for a Christmas or New Year’s Eve party, as well as hair and makeup suggestions to pair with each outfit. You can thank me later! For now, keep scrolling.
Look One – Sitting Pretty in Velvet ‘n’ Leather
Girly and edgy all at once. This look is laid back, guaranteed to keep you feeling comfortable while you sip on champagne and dance the night away and yet somehow still managing to look pretty.
Recreate the look
WEAR a velvet top or bodysuit with a dark or black leather trousers.
PAIR with a belt and court shoes. If you plan on dancing a lot, pick flats instead.
ACCESSORISE with a long necklace, silver bracelets and simple studded earrings.
APPLY a plethora of eye-shadow colours to match your top. Suggestions include cut crease, smoky or cat eye looks using your chosen shades. Since the eye makeup is quite striking, keep the lipstick colour more laid back. I opted for a medium pink shade which suits my skin tone.
STYLE your hair down. You can blow-dry your hair straight or add a hint of waves.
Voila, you’re ready.
Look Two – Standing Tall in Glamorous Embellished Dress
Recreate the look
WEAR a sequined or embellished dress, preferably off the shoulder, for maximum glam factor.
PAIR with silver, gold or matching coloured court shoes and a matching clutch handbag.
ACCESSORISE with oversized earrings and a gem bracelet. If you choose to wear a necklace, go for smaller sized earrings.
APPLY minimal makeup, since the dress is doing all the talking. Foundation, mascara, a shimmery neutral/white/gold eye-shadow (or alternatively, you can smear plain lip gloss on your eyelids as I have done in this pic) and light or medium pink lipstick.
STYLE into a top knot, bun or sleek ponytail. If you prefer to leave your hair down, create a half up, half down look and tie off with a ribbon. For best results, keep hair off your neck.
And hey presto, you’re done.
If you know me, I like to keep makeup pretty simple. I’m sure you’ll agree that when you’re in a rush (or to be frank, simply can’t be bothered), it’s nice to know that you can skip some steps and still look fabulous. For the above looks, I have skipped blush, mascara and eyeliner. There is also no contouring or eyebrow makeup applied but if you want to include these steps then please go ahead! I just thought I’d save you some time.
Well, that’s it for now. Let me know which look you prefer. What will you be wearing for New Year’s? Let me know in the comments.
